Summer repairs and improvements

It is well known that among Factory Five owners that these cars are really never completed as there is always something to improve upon. Those who follow this bog know we started this project with a donor car as that is what we could afford and over the last 3 years of driving we have slowly replaced a lot of those components as it was needed. This summer the third gear synchro wore out on the trans resulting in difficult shifting so we removed the engine and trans to overhaul the Tremec. While the drive-train was out we used this downtime to complete some overdue projects and improvements.

First a few pics of the trans overhaul and worn synchro.

Some of the improvements include applying bed liner to the underside of the hood

Mounting the remainder of the air conditioning components, making aluminum sill plates for the pontoons and modeling an engine cover in cardboard to be used as a template for metal cutting and bending. When finished it will be painted to match the body color and stripes

A visit with legends

We recently had an opportunity to visit the Henry Ford Museum and while the sheer amount and variety of artifacts is staggering these legends stood out.

Everything is installed and adjusted and we are ready to hit the road. I hope everyone has enjoyed following along with our build experience.
