Accessory mounting

Before paint it is necessary to mount all external accessories like windows and mirrors so all mounting holes are present before the color goes on. Now that all of those holes have been drilled we are going to go over the body once more wet sanding with 400 grit and call it good

Final Stages of Bodywork

This weekend we applied a guide coat of flat black and then wet sanded with 220. This allows us to find any low spots we might not have felt by hand......anywhere there is black paint after sanding will need glazing compound applied. Glazing compound is very fine in texture compared to body putty so it can fill the really shallow areas

Rear Spoiler Reworked

Rear spoiler

I have come to the point of trimming and installing the rear spoiler. I found the quality of this part to be a little sub par as it doesn't contour the body well and the thickness of the glass at the flange is very thin. This will likely require separating the flange and reglassing it to fit the body contour.

Light at the end of the tunnel

I can finally see an end to the seemingly endless body filling and sanding. 2/3 of the car has been faired in and smoothed and most of the remaining body filler has been applied. Next we will start saving for paint in earnest. Our plan is to paint it Ford Deep Impact Blue with white stripes
